    Backstrom leads Caps past Ducks in OT

    Nicklas Backstrom scored the tying goal with 42 seconds left in regulation, then added the game-winner at 2 minutes, 18 seconds of overtime to lift the host Washington Capitals to a 5-4 comeback victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.
    It was 4-3 when Washington pulled goaltender Tomas Vokouncheap jerseys in the final minute, and Backstrom hammered home a rebound.

    In overtime, Backstrom was standing to the right of the net when Alex Ovechkin sent the puck toward goalie Jonas Hiller. Anaheim defenseman Toni Lydman let the puck slip past his stick, and Backstrom scored easily to end it.

    Elsewhere: Johnny Boychuk and Daniel Paille scored 47 wholesale jerseys seconds apart to break open a tie game in the third period, and the host Boston Bruins ended a three-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Ottawa Senators. . . . Devin Setoguchi's power-play goal 1:33 into overtime gave the Minnesota Wild a 2-1 comeback win over the host Detroit Red Wings. . . . Jeff Skinner and Chad LaRose had two goals each, lifting the host Carolina Hurricanes to a 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

    Sutton gets five games

    Edmonton Oilers defenseman Andy Sutton was cheap jerseys suspended five games on Tuesday for elbowing Colorado Avalanche rookie forward Gabriel Landeskog.
    The suspension was announced by NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan.

    Sutton delivered an elbow to the head of the Avalanche rookie early in the third period of Edmonton's 3-1 victory Friday.

    The Oilers' defenseman was assessed a minor penalty for elbowing on the play.

    "At the moment of impact, it's clear that the head is the cheap nfl jerseys principal point of contact and has been recklessly targeted," Shanahan said in a video on NHL.com that explains the suspension. "Landeskog is looking back for the pass and rotates his head, but the position of his head does not dramatically change."

    Shanahan and the department of player safety examined Sutton's disciplinary history while making its decision.

    Sean Avery is back with the New York Rangers and might be in the lineup Thursday night.
    Avery could have been claimed by the other 29 NHL teams after he was placed on re-entry waivers Monday by the Rangers, but they all passed on the noted agitator before the 24-hour period expired Tuesday. That cleared the way for Avery to be recalled by New York from Connecticut of the AHL.
