Bromley’s pupils and teachers achieve high marks Empty Bromley’s pupils and teachers achieve high marks

The Key Stage 4 Achievement and Attainment tables published on 15th January 2009 show a significant increase in the proportion of pupils gaining 5 A*-C including English and mathematics, maintaining Bromley’s position as a high attaining Authority. The rise of 5 percentage points between 2007 and 2008 compares very favourably with the static position nationally. This reflects the hard work, commitment and professionalism of both students and staff in Bromley’s schools. It is also pleasing to note that the one school whose attainment in 2007 was below the so-called ‘floor target’ has improved its results and is above that level.

The 2008 Post 16 Achievement and Attainment tables, also published on 15th January 2009, show for all schools and FE colleges in Bromley the Average Points Score per student and per entry. Also, for the first time, each school and college is given a score to indicate the progress made by students between KS4 and KS5, known as Contextual Value-added.

Bromley LA is pleased to see an improvement in the average points score per candidate from the 2007 results in 11 of our 18 centres, with 2 centres maintaining their levels of performance from the previous year.

In terms of the value added score, 6 of Bromley’s centres have a score placing them in the top 25% of schools nationally.
