    MPs Expenses Empty MPs Expenses

Post  Angry Thu May 21, 2009 8:38 pm

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel that these MPs' just "haven't got it" yet?

Despite the public anger over these scandalous expense claims, these immoral hypocrites are talking about "reducing" the amount WE pay on their second mortgages to just £1,250.00 per month. £1,250.00 per MONTH? That's still over £300.00 a week and more than most people pay on their first and only mortgage.

Personally, I don't think we should pay anything towards their second mortgages, especially when so many people can't afford a first mortgage.

This whole affair of claiming dubious expenses has been kept secret for many years.

It's been allowed, accepted even, because they claim their salaries of £63,000.00 a year is not enough. How many of you earn £63,000.00 a year? Besides, many of the more senior MPs' earn a lot more.

Nothing much will change. They are talking about reform and publishing their expenses on the internet, but I heard a reporter today who said they are already trying to get some expenses exempted in the name of security.

If they're going to be selective we should expect more of the same.

I don't have any faith in their hollow promises.

Can anybody tell me what's happened to those high profile government TV ads, that were all the rage a few weeks back, asking us to be on the lookout for instances of fraud, benefits cheating, and shady types generally screwing the taxpayer? I really miss them. I hope they'll be showing them again soon.

    MPs Expenses Empty An Election

Post  Voter Sun May 31, 2009 12:46 am

Lots of people seem to be calling for a general election now but who could you vote for?

Looking at your list of offenders, the corruption is widespread across all of the parties.

I don't think an election is the right way to go. By leaving the election for another year we will have a chance to see which party actually does something positive to sort out this mess.

If we had an election now we would be putting in a party with the knowledge that they don't have to do anything for another five years.

Party leaders should sack those who have abused the system and not be satisfied with them paying some of the money back or standing down at the next election. They should go NOW. Whoever did this would get my vote.

At the moment I'm at a total loss who to vote for. If I had to vote now I would lean towards giving my vote to one of the obscure parties, even the BNP.
