BICKLEY: Double success for sheltered housing scheme

Post  Staff on Sat Apr 25, 2009 4:53 am

A SHELTERED housing scheme has scored a double whammy of getting top marks in council assessments.

Robert Whyte House in Oldfield Road, Bickley, which is home to 34 residents aged over 60, was awarded the highest grading of five stars for food hygiene from Bromley Council’s environmental health team.

In a separate assessment, it received the highest possible score of grade A for six categories including caring for the needs and risks of residents, their health and safety and dealing with complaints.

Manager Linda Lawless said: “The achievement is recognition of the team work and ethos of the staff and an environment that encourages involvement and independence with unobtrusive support.

“All the residents are involved in the decision making processes and help organise many events.”
