Young people took centre stage at Bromley’s annual Youth Manifesto event. Councillor Ernest Noad, Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People, his executive assistant Councillor Brian Humphrys and Gillian Pearson, Director of CYP Services, discussed priorities for young people living and studying in the Borough.
The event at the Bromley Court Hotel was coordinated with Bromley Youth Council and involved more than 40 young people. As well as focussing on promoting positive images of young people, the young participants were keen to encourage a greater use of Bromley’s parks and green spaces.
Cllr Noad said: “Our young people at the event came up with some really interesting and exciting ideas for us to take forward with our partner agencies. I think there are a lot of older people who don’t quite understand the hard work and aspirations of our young people. That is at least partly due to negative headlines in the media and that’s what events like this can help to address.”
